Myths About Dermaplaning

There are some myths and old wive's tales about dermplaning that simply are not true. So don't let them stop you from trying this amazing instant skin resurfacing treatment.

• Will my face hairs will grow back thicker? This is a long-standing miss-conception, but It is physically impossible for your fine peach fuzz, or vellous hairs, to grow back thicker. When the hairs first start to grow back, you will notice them more than you did before treatment, because you are now used to perfectly smooth skin, and the cut edges are blunt at first. But as the hair growns in, you will find it is the same as it was before treatment.
• My hair will grow back darker and/or thicker? Again, totally not true. Since we are only cutting the hair and leaving the root undisturbed, it is not possible to change the physical characteristics of the hair. Any illusion of it growning back thicker or darker is a result of getting used to seeing your face completely smooth with no peach fuzz at all.
• Is Dermaplaning Painful? Not at all. Dermaplaning is totally pain-free. It is preformed with the lightest touch and is not all all abrasive. It is great for all skin types, except those with an active acne breakout.
• Will Dermaplaning cause breakouts? The complete opposite is true. The exfoliation of the dead skin and cleaning of skin follicles during dermaplaning will actually help your sking breath better. It also allows for your acne medications to penetrate better, helping to further prevent breakouts.
